I must say that a nice bottle of Gava from spain is always a great one for an evening. I'm a mainly red guy myself, but gava is also my fav. these days.

You've probably (hopefully) had a few reds that just took your senses away. Have you ever had any whites that did the same?

Still saving it for a special celebration.

for myself 20 or so years ago. It's my most valuable AND my most prized bottle in the collection.a few moments later ...
I just went down to the cellar to see what would be 2nd in "my affections"; we got some serious drinking to do, if only to check to see they're still alive. There's also 750 ml bottles of
1 x '70 d'Yquem
2 x '76 d'Yquem
1 x '76 Climens
1 x '76 deFargues1 '82 LaTour
Magnums of
'76 Lafitte
'81 LaTour
'82 Pichon Lalande
4 x '83 Jaboulet La Chapelle Hermitage
...Jersey Shore from California for the first week in July. Will that be special enough?

Just kidding...That's the kind of wine that makes an occassion special.
But it is such a shame when people hold onto wine so long that it goes bad (not in your case) or when they finally have it, it doesn't live up to their long awaited expectations.
Enjoy it sooner than later.
Funny thing about wine, they keep on making more.
And there always seems to be a new "vintage of the century".
