...I fondly remember the 1979 Grgich Hills chardonnay. Another memorable one was a Montrachet I had in 1985 (don't recall which).

I love red (mainly zinfandel) but my wife drinks whites. There are plenty of excellent chardonnays. My current favorites are from Rombauer, Landmark Overlook and Newton Unfiltered, but they vary year to year.
