Could anyone recommend their fave Chenin Blanc. I quite like Californian ones.
A similar Kiwi wne; I have tried some amazing wines from down there.
Follow Ups:
From the middle of the Loire, behaves like a top red, needs at least 20 years to mature.
Drank one at 15 years, (had kept it for 9 years, myself), pleased for the experience, but disappointed that still quite green!Appearance - straw yellow, hint of green, bright and shining.
Nose - Full, floral, aromatic, very citrus fruity.
Taste - Rich, intense, Lemony, sherbet fruit, clean fresh and very powerful, very long lived, floral citrus flavours opened out afterleaving in the glass. Why did I only have one bottle?

Jeez, there are so many, but mostly (as the last post notes) far from California. Do yourself a favor and head for France's Loire valley. Especially Vouvrays: try the modestly priced Domaine de Vaufuget (classic sweet/juicy-acidy Vouvray) or the (atypically) elegant, a bit more expensive, Domaine Coteau de la Biche. And so many more--ask your favorite wine guy. AND--Montlouis, across the river from Vouvray. There, you can't do better than Deletang--I recommend cuvee "Les Batisses," 1997, if you can find it. Chenin rules!
jd,
I take it that you are a Francophile too, then.
Ever got plastered on Gros Plant, its the real, reliable, cheap dry stuff from the loire, thats not allowed to be called Muscadet. It's fresher and greener. Never pay much for it. (French version of Austrian "Gruner Veltliner". One night of merriment and you're hooked!Ref your post above, Is this a good substitute for those tales of Yquem?
