What are you're favorite tasting rooms in Sonoma?
I'm planning on taking a two night trip to the wine country first week of July. We'll be staying at the Westin in Napa. Is it a big hassle to drive back and forth between Napa and Sonoma? I've done Napa four times and have never been to Sonoma.
Follow Ups:
...for the report about your Napa trip.
What did you like there?
...to drive between Napa and Sonoma. The easiest is the Carneros hiway connecting the bottom of the two Valleys.
Otherwise it's s steep very windy road that takes you over the hill.
Stop at Domaine Carneros.
Sonoma is by far my favorite - old Dry Creek Rd. for zins.
I'd advise you to cut your Napa stay short and stay in Healdsburg for a couple of nights.
All the way up is Ferrari-Carano.
You can make an appointment at Rafanelli.
Dry Creek Vinyards has a nice tasting room but only so-so wines.
Then there's Quivera, Zichichi, Bella and Preston.

I'm staying at the Westin for free, using Starwood points.
My daughter has never been to the wine country, so this is her birthday present.
So I guess I'll do Napa again.
...it's just Wine Disneyland in the summer.
I'd try to stay away from hiway 29 as much as possible and focus more on the Silverado Trail.
There are some nice wineries back in the hills - Neyers, Outpost Storybook and others.
Have lunch at Auberge du Soleil and dinner at Meadowood.
Yountville seems to be the happening place with lots of hot restaurants.
Do I need to make an appointment with any of your winery picks?
...I think Neyers and Storybook have tasting rooms.
Outpost is appointment.
Daroush has a tasting room and is an oppulent Persian design.
Taking your daughter winetasting for her birthday is like buying your wife a tablesaw for hers...
She loves wine too.
...a day trip to Sonoma - only an hour or so away.
Take your family to Calistoga for mud baths, says my wife.
We're driving up from Carmel. Would you suggest going into Sonoma first then driving over to Napa for the night and then doing the second day in Napa Valley or vise versa?
We're spending two nights but I don't plan on doing much on the way out the third day.
...it's a 3 hour drive from Carmel to Napa.Another hour to Healdsburg.
You could do Dry Creek first, then spend the rest of the time in Napa.
After re-reading your OP, I realize you are only there two days and not a week.
Maybe just enjoy Napa on this trip and try Sonoma next year.

...you need to take her.
