Re: Delete the registry key for IE and reinstall it....

You may want to get someone to help you if possible. None of this is very hard to do, but it is hard to anticipate in advance every situation/choice you may encounter along the way and prep you to deal with it.

In essence, you just have to open the registry by typing 'regedit' (without the single quotes) into the Run command in the Start menu. It will look much like Windows Explorer when it opens. Work your way down to the key (folder) I mentioned, and delete it.

Depending on what you have for software that came with your computer, you may be able to find a setup program specifically for IE. If not, then the easiest way to repair/reinstall IE will be to reinstall Windows (of course, I'm assuming you're running IE on Windows). This will essentially restore the IE registry key. You will not have to reinstall any of your programs as long as you reinstall Windows to the same folder it's currently installed.

Like I said, none of this is hard to do, but you will likely be presented with choices along the way and may not know how to make the correct choice. Given that you'll only be performing a reinstall, however, chances are you could just click Next thru the whole precess and be successful.

Best of luck,
Pete
