Has anyone ever tried one of these coolers, which supposedly keeps wine at ideal temperature, kind of like a "miniature wine cellar?" (They're basically refrigerators that run at a higher temperature.) Thanks for response!

If you live in a hot climate and you have expensive wines, they are well worth considering. Yes they do keep the wine at 57, or whatever you check. They also check for humidity too. Construction is usually mdf with an insulating layer, and thermal glass (if you choose glass doors. Better finishes or larger cabinets obviously increase the price. Ours is a 500 bottle model called vintagekeeper out of Canada. Its the best cost for quality we could find over the internet. We paid $1750 US including shipping to Florida.
I have one of the 35 bottle models. It is perfect for my small apartment. One might think it a bit small, but I am not a collector and most of the wine that makes it into my house is opened within the year. My collection of bottles which need constant temp for longevity fit neatly into the cooler. If you have the space, however, there is nothing like nice wooden racks in the basement.
