I got upgraded to the first class of a German Airline for a long trip of 10 hours. Dinner time I ordered white wine since i cannot have red wine due to Migraine problems (as instructed by my Doctor). I noticed it was a German Reisling but could not catch the name. It was so good I finished the bottle and asked for more. Since the stewardess was pouring and had a small cloth around the bottle I could not read the name. I thought it was infra dig in the first class to ask her. Had a dream of a trip.
I am a novice when it comes to wine so please somebody suggest the name of such a good wine. There is no hope of buying a wine where I am now stationed but in the near future I could buy this unforgettable wine. Thanks.

If you can't find the specific wines listed in WS I would suggest these vineyards and styles. They are usually readily available.Piesporter Goldtropfchen
Wehlener Sonnenuhr
Schloss Vollrads
Either Qba(slightly sweet), Kabinetts(slightly sweet and more refined),or Spatlese(sweet) in styles. There are sweeter styles, but the prices escalate quickly. But don't be afraid to try them if you can, they are sweet but not cloyingly so. Incredible flavors in every sip.
You will notice there are green bottles and brown bottles. The green are from the Mosel area and tend to be more delicate. The brown are from the Rhein area and have a bit more body. Try them both and see which you like.

Thanks a lot. I have noted them down. Will have to pick them up on my next trip, perhaps in July.

...the latest Wine Spectator (April 30) at a bookstand or wine shop.
They have an article on the 2010 German Reislings and rate a whole bunch of them.
Thanks, mk. I have checked the list. What a choice! If that rating is out of 100, some of those wines must be outa this world.I found several 90 rated wines that are low priced at $20. That made me wonder how better the 96 rated Emrich Schonleber Riesling Auslese Gold Cap Nahe Monzinger Halenberg 2009 will be which goes for $50. For the price of a Johnnie Walker Black we can have a fantastic bottle of wine. I must try these 96 rated ones.

Don't ever let scores be your bible. If you find a reviewer that you tend to agree with then maybe use his/her scores as a guide, but really...most of it is useless.
Would you like to hear about the well known reviewer who ordered up caramel corn during his tasting?
And don't be afraid to ask about wine anywhere...even in first class. If more people would ask more questions.........
Thank you. Will try to learn from tasting.
Cheers
Bill
