love a good zin.
Still has to be a really good syrah to catch my fancy. I think the syrah was the "next big" red that didn't make it. Lots of syrah sitting in the wineries.
I like a good petite sirah, as long as it doesn't cost more than $25. Even better when it doesn't cost more than $20.
I get my allotment offering from Turley for $48 petite sirahs. Never going to happen.
Follow Ups:
One of my all time favourites is a Californian called Sixth Sense.Jam packed with fruit and less than $20.
...California wines are "jam" packed with fruit and lack real complexity, balance and interest.
"Fruit bombs" they are called.
At one winery tasting someone remarked the zinfandel tasted like a Fruit-Roll-Up - that isn't a compliment.
I Googled 6th Sense and it's a Syrah made by Michael David, the Lodi winery which makes 7 Deadly Zins.
I'll have to check it out.
Their zin is not bad for an inexpensive restaurant by the glass pour where I usually see it.
Why are you telling people what they should like?
If they like fruit bombs, white zinfandels, pinot grigio, etc....
So be it.
It's their money and the wineries profit.
...I tell anyone what they should like.
I gave my opinion.
Your mileage may vary...
