...I've had some excellent Robert Stemmler pinot noirs in the past.
Some excellent pinots come from Napa's Carneros region.
2007 was a banner year for California wines.
By all estimates this one should have been a knock-out at $20.
It's not so much.
It isn't bad, but the 14.4% alcohol seems to dominate with just a little fruit in the finish.
Ok, for the price, but you could probably do better.

...in our blind pinot noir tasting of 6 wines and it was the least expensive.
I had it 4th.
By the way, just tried Seven Hills Winery, Seven Hills Vineyard, 2008 Cab.
I really enjoyed it. Good fruit with some complexity. Drinkable now.
I also tried their Klipsun Vineyard, 2008. A bit more tannins, so maybe wait a couple of years.
I still like the SHV more.
...was a 2007 Chasseur Russian River Blank Vinyard $37 (no longer available). It won by a lot - 6 points from the 5 tasters - 4 firsts and one second place ranking. #2 wine had 15 points.
#2 was MacPhail 2007 Sonoma Coast $35
Others were:
#3 Stemmler
#4 Pesagano Monterey (2008 or 2009?) $21
#5 Brophy-Clark Santa Maria 2008 $22
#6 Erath Oregon 2008 $20
