I remember Amador County being a player in zins back in the early 80's. Like Lodi, they seem to have fallen off the map.

As for the prices, maybe they figure if you match the big boys in price the average tourist will assume they are worth it. Nothing like a vacationer to over pay and over praise a wine.

I have a friend who likes the Gold Country and that's his favorite wine destination.

The other hot wine now area is Paso Robles.
