Whitehall Lane does make a good one. I also use to enjoy Markham for the bang for the buck. But the last couple of vintages I've had have been a bit mediocre.
You're right on the Cheval Blanc in the movie. They originally approached Petrus but were turned down because Petrus people thought the movie idea was lame. That would have been the ultimate twist because Petrus is considered the greatest merlot in the world.
Just had a bottle of Seven Hills merlot with dinner tonight.
