I like to use Private Preserve as well. However, since you brought up half bottles, I would state that that merely filling half bottles to the rim and corking the wine does the trick. There is no air left in the bottle, and we all know that it's air that oxidizes the wine. I've found that this is works just as well as a $10 bottle of Private Preserve, so long as you leave no air in the bottle.
