Anyone have any ideas about which is the best brand of 12-14' inflatable boats (not RIB)? At first I thought Zodiac was the best, then Avon or Achilles, now I don't know. Is Quicksilver reliable? Sea Eagle? My main criteria is reliability and toughness of the fabric and seams.
Follow Ups:
I bought a 14' Mercury Quicksilver last year, with a 25 h.p. Merc on the back. It is a great boat, and I use it for fishing, crabing, shrimping, or just plain running around both here in the Yukon and between Skagway and Haines, Alaska. The only thing I don't like about it is the paint on the floorboards (plywood). At best, it is a cheap primer. That's been my project for today: taking the metal locking pieces off of the boards (there are five pieces) and repainting them with a good enamel paint (battleship grey). If you buy one of these, you do have to be careful about not getting grit into the boat, because it gets in between the metal locking pieces that fit together between the floorboards, or worse, will wear between the bottom of the boards and the material underneath. Hope this helps.

I have owned 5 Achillies and never had one problem. I owned one Zodiak and if fell apart. Achillies makes a good boat.
