I cranked up my boat motor today after setting up all winter. Its a
90 hp nissan. The water pump seems to be putting out like it should,
but when its put in gear it starts to spray oily water. I now have greesy specks all over the back of the boat. It only does this when it is put in gear, not when it's idling.
Any help would be appreciated.thanks, kevin

If your motor is a 2 stroke I would say that this is simply oil residue built up in the exhaust from unburned oil. Exactly where is the oil comming from? Is it flowing from the tattle tale? I'm just guessing here. need better description.,TG

thanks for your response tailgunner. the boat is a 4 stroke, got the oil injection. the oily water is comming from the pee hole. i don't know if oily water is comming from the other ports, but probably is . i am pretty sure i need to replace the water pump, but don't think a bad water pump would cause this.
thanks kevin

Sounds like maybe you have a bad O ring in one cylinder or a crack somewhere that is letting oil into the water jacket. I do not know much about nissans. go to www.maxrules.com There you will find a bullitin board post your question there for more help. Good luck
