Today I purchased a Used Johnson 6 sea horse. The owners manual states 6hp sea horse models CD-CDL 1966. The motor looks almost new. It has been in storage for years and used very little according to the person that I bought it from. Inside the motor cover everything looks new and even the pull rope looks new. At first it wouldn't start but once it was primed it started and ran a little ruff. After I ran it for a while it began to run much better and I believe the only thing that it really needs is it be used. I was suprised to find that the water pump had not hardned and does not need to be replaced as it pumps very well. Can anyone tell me what a fair price for such a motor would be? Without stating just what I paid for it I wish to find out if I got a deal or if I got ripped off. Thanks,

I have found E-bay to be a good source of finding somethings rough value, From what I have seen there, 3 ta 400 or so is average for motor claimed to be in good shape. I saw a 69 even 6hp just like mine there for 300 a few days ago in what looked like mint conidition acording to teh pix

The motor you have in the great condition you describe should be worth abt. 500 to 600 dollars.Might go a bit higher for a classic collector.A very poor motor,ie;one not running and of questionable condition, that is really rough can sell for up to 250.00. I think you probably got a good deal.
