I would like to know what type of full tank to use for this motor or does it matter. I am new to this hobby and would like to know.A friend gave me a clean motor and said it would only run for a minute and die but I was able to keep it running (rough) by pumping the primer balland sticking the end if the hose in a regular gas can.The # is 217.586614 I would also like to know how to tell what year it is and what I need to do as like change lower oil etc... Thank you you for the help!!

Sounds like your motor is from the 1960's. Does it have a built in tank? These motors are known to have carb problems. It will not stay running, because it's starving for gas. Clean the carb real good.
