I am looking for a outboard for my 16' colman canoe. I found a 3hp Sears Gamefisher. How will this motor push my canoe? Thanks

do you have a owners manual for the 3 hp gamefisher. just got one for my scanoe and need a owners manual. the sears number is 217-5854-4. gladly pay for a goot copy or some scanned pages.
Three horses for a canoe of that size is purrrfect. I use a 3.5 on a larger tripping canoe, and any more would be too much.

Thanks for the reply...I bought on it ebay $155. So what can I expect 10 kph?
Thanks!
I don't honestly know how fast a 16' canoe can go, but I think your estimate is about right. There's a formula for displacement hulls, something like the square root of the waterline equals nautical miles per hour. I'm sure three horses will push your canoe to maximum speed, whatever it is exactly.
