In Reply to: This New' Gizmo' Could Be Used For Digital Cameras!! posted by john c. on July 17, 2001 at 16:04:50:
If batteries are a problem, a single use camera would be a better choice of camera. Or a nice manual/mechanical camera like a Nikon FM2N. Only one crank and you're ready! You'd surely miss the decisive moment by the time you charged your digital camera up with hand cranks (digital cameras are already slow enough).Remember the hilarious "digital ready" speakers of the 1980s? I recently saw a "digital ready" tripod. Replace that old fashion analog tripod with a new "digital ready" tripod!
Follow Ups:
----The envisioned hand-crank power module would be
used JUST LIKE a battery...STORING
electric power for
the digital camera to use at a moment's notice---
what would be different is with the
hand-crank module clipped onto your
digital camera,NO BATTERIES
WOULD BE NEEDED....cranking the power module
would supply enough "juice"--stored-- for 20
or 30 shots at a time.---Hasn't anyone seen the
ads on the 'Net for the Freeplay radios?????
What does it mean, 'No Batteries'. Something inside still stores that cranked-up energy, anyway? As for cellphones. Why use hand-crank at all? Batteries can be charged by flywheel, as long as you walk, like in automatic watches. It should be sufficient for standby, but not for long talks. Anyway, a nice advertizing twist: 'Finally, A CellPhone for a Man of Few Words'...
