This board is pretty dead, but I wanted to mention a great little wine:Pierre Sparrs "One" 2002.
A white blend that drinks a little tart and fruity. I picked up a case @ $7.19/bottle (got to love NH liquor stores), but usually runs $10.99 a bottle.

I just opened a bottle of Homenaje Tinto (Marco Real SA, Olite, Spain) which is from Navarre. I have to say that it's smoother than a baby's bottom and it has fruit and 'coffre'. At 3.25 (Euros) it's absolute nectar.best regards,
You've come across an example of an Alsatian white wine. I consider them to be relative bargains and can make for wonderful wine-drinking. Other names are Schoffit, Blanck, and the master, Zind-Humbrecht. The wines range in price, but they are worth exploring and work well with alot of different food types.

This board is dead, pity!!
There is a glut of white wine at the moment.
We are picking up decent drinking white for less than 2 $ a bottle which is less than the cost of the bottle, cork, label etc.
Good time to be a wine drinker in Cape Town.

Dead indeed! $2/bottle is quite good -- not seeing those prices in US, unless it's Two Buck Chuck, but there are decent Australian whites for $5-$6 per bottle out there.

First time poster here, if the board will let me.If you can find wines from the Barefoot Cellars in Sonoma Valley, you will find a very good inexpensive wine. Their Merlot is very nice and the cab is even better to my tongue.
I buy them for $5.99 here in Tennessee.
Blessings,
I 2nd the Barefoot! $6-7 in northern Ohio.
At $10-12 the Chardonay from Meridien is also quite nice.
