Not a cognac but may I recommend the Germain Robain Alambic Brandy from Ukiah CA.

A bottle of the XO goes for about $80.00 and I believe compares favorably to some $300 per bottle Cognac marks. They also sell it in half bottle if you want to do more of a sampler size.

I keep this plus their Havana selection and bottle of Paradis in my bar at all times
