Patsy,
Very interesting, a few questions spring to mind? There are two issues, the value of the wine and also the other information that makes it valuable.
Firstly, how strange, I thought that "Port" only came from a defined area in Portugal and was made according to very strict laws. I also thought that the days of Australian wine companies labelling their products, with terms like port, ruby, champagne, claret, etc, had long gone.
I am, however, intrigued and have no reason to suppose that this is anything other than, quite special. What other information can you supply. The label probably gives us the best information "wine" quality wise:
1. If it is a vintage, (can't be 86, obviusly)?
2. If it is Late bottled?
3. Is it non vintage?
4. Who made it?
5. Who shipped it?
6. Is it really "Australian Port"?
The bottle could have a value associated with this alone!Secondly, all the other (non wine), information, HRH included, that you mention, will affect the collectability and therefore the value also. Can you, for instance, supply information about the RAEME Banner, about the presentation and Why your Husband was involved.
Look, basically I can't actually value the bottle for you, but I can quantify the above features in value terms for you.regards,
Mike.S.
