My wife and I are light drinkers. Most of the time we can't even finish a whole bottle. Any idea how long will the wine stay fresh after opening? What's the best way to keep it fresh? Thanks!

I had your problem for years until I found the VacuvinIt's a white plastic pump and comes with rubber stoppers (corks). Works incredibly well. I find that wines will keep for a week or even two when properly pumped. You are essentially pumping all of the remaining air from the bottle.
Take one or two friends and share the nectar! That makes drinking more enjoyable, and friendship more solid.
Use a clean and empty half bottle and transfer the remaining wine into it, then refigerate-have had wine last close to 1 week this way.
Of course put a cork in it!
A 'vacuvin'.I'm in England, but I,m sure the U.S. has them.
It's a pump mechanism that removes the air from inside the bottle
Cost about £10. keeps whites fresh for about 5 days, and reds for a week.
Anybody knows?
I would like to replace a 1990 Hungarian Tokaj, Aszú, 4puttonyos from
TOKAJ KERESKEDÖHAZ. The year is not cast in stone, but I'd like to keep the rest the same.
If anyone knows a source in New York State, especially upstate, I would be grateful.
Thanks!
...wineenthusiast.com sells them, but IMO the device is a placebo. I have one; it does nothing but give you an extra toy to fiddle with. If you do buy one you might try comparing two opened identical bottles of wine--one with the vacuvin and one just recorked and stuck in the fridge. I tried this a few times and could never tell the difference.
Frankly, I've rarely had a problem just sticking the cork back in the bottle and putting it in the fridge, especially if the wine is young. If it's a fragile old thing there's probably not much that can be done.
I've tried this on young table wine but the wine usually goes flat or bitter the next morning. Will a decanter do the trick?
I don't think there's much you can do about sparkling wine going flat no matter what you do.I would think a decanter would just aerate the wine more. Generally, you want to minimize the air contact. Plus, my decanters don't really fit in the fridge very well.
