1959 14.5' fixer upper "fiberglass vs. new wood" (Please Help!!)

24.169.114.109

I have a 1959 14.5' homem boat that has a fiberglass hull but the rear of the boat "where the motor clamps" is a thick piece of wood. The problem is that where the floor meets at this spot it is split and the wood is rotted a little leaving a very small gap(just enough to leak) along with two small cracks along the width of the board from the motor. My question is, should I replace this whole piece of wood, if so what type of wood and how do I attach it to the existing area, or should I just use fiberglass and cover the whole area? any opinons are greatly appreciated. (sorry with wording i'm not to familiar with proper termination)
