...six of us tasted 7 2014 CA pinot noirs - low points wins.7. Smoke Tree Sonoma $30 - 30pts
6. Papapietro $70 - 28pts
5. Martin Ray Russian River $20 - 26pts
4. Line 39 Sonoma $12 - 25pts
3. Unbridled Santa Barbera $30 - 25pts - one first
2. Rochioli Russian River $60 - 18pts - one first
1. Forager Sonoma Coast - $20 - 17pts - four firsts
All were pretty good but look at the point drop after #3. The big winner was the Forager for $20. Forget Meoimi and try this one.

How do you like western Sonoma / Mendocino Pinot Noirs?
Happy Listening
...I like some from the Russian River and Sonoma Coast (which most were from the tasting).
Mendocino should be good because it's cooler there.
But like everything there are big variations between wineries.
True that - I have even seen amazing differences by vineyard within a region from the same vintner-

...we were in Paso Robles tasting wine.
At Turley we tasted a Dusi vinyard zinfandel.
At Cypher we tasted theirs from the same vinyard.
Then we went up the road a little to Dusi Vinyards and tasted their zin.
Same fruit - 3 different winemakers.
I liked the Cypher the best.
Yes, there is a lot of great wine out there-
I tasted some Alma Fria, Holterman Vineyard 2013 and a Gregory James - Hawk Hill '13 - both Pinot Noir-
Prefer the Alma Fria-
but both were delicious-
