...made me remember what is special about their wines.
I was moving my less than a case of Turleys from 2011 to 2013 to make room for the case that will come in April.
So I pulled out a 2011 Dusi Vinyard from Paso Robles to drink.
It was delicious with a depth and complexity to it that made the many one note zinfandels pale in comparison.
And 2011 wasn't an especially great year.

How do you think the Turley would
rank in your recent Zin tasting?
I have three 2009 Turley Zin's

...the Turley may not have done well in the blind tasting. The winners seem to be the most "drinkable" with forward fruit.
In a contest like this the complexity and depth seem to get lost or overshadowed by the fruit and a lack of off-tastes.
Almost like the Pepsi Challenge where tasters preferred the sweeter Pepsi in a blind tasting but still preferred to take home Coke to drink.
Let me know how you like the 2009 - you may want to decant it first or at least pour it through a venturi.
It will improve over at least the first hour.
