Aloha,
Anybody familiar with the Myriad Winery's Syrahs and Semillion?
It's online release day and thought I'd see if anybody had any opinions!

I know. I know....we're supposed to let them sit for a couple months after receiving them before we pop corks, but I was curious.
I also like tasting "same winemaker and grape, different vineyards" and comparing.
Both are excellent and I will seek them out in the future.
Tasted with the Rhys and Chalk Hill syrahs.
4th place - Chalk Hill. Very very oaky and soft. Perhaps if tasted alone it would have been more enjoyable. Suffered for lack of structure compared to the other three. With red meat it offered a smokey note that was very enjoyable. So, I will drink this again on purpose, but 4th place.
The top three would be seperated by only 1 or 2 "Parker Points."...
3rd place: Myriad Sugar Loaf Mountain. Great balance of fruit and tannin, slightly 'cool' sensation on the palate, which I like. I also like more reticent wines, so not a big fruit up front beast. Really well assembled.
2nd Place: Rhys. Even more structue and more classic wine feel. I'd say this one came off as the best constructed.
1st place: Myriad Las Madres - had a note of cardamom with great alcohol/fruit/tannin balance.
On any given night, places 1,2, and 3 could be reversed.
Impressions consistent before and then with food.
I give Myriad a thumbs up!
