...after a holiday break, our monthly wine tasting group got together again.
There were five of us and we tasted 6 different pinot noirs.
All of the wines were pretty good but a couple stood out.
Meiomi 2010 $24 (Safeway) rated third place but was a little different than the others. It had a slightly fuller body, a strong vanilla note and its ripe fruit reminded me a little of port. Went well with the dark chocolate we had for desert.
La Crema 2009 $20 (everywhere) was the top scorer with 7 points (three first places and two seconds) - a surprise but well balanced with nice fruit. Highly recommended.
Follow Ups:
I am a total novice about wines. A friend gave me pino grigio called riff. Year shown on the bottle is 2007. How good is this wine? Winegrower Alois Lagender seleted the wines from vineyards in the foothills of Dolomites of eastern Alps. Should I open it for Easter? Want to please the 88 year old mother in law.
Best Regards
Bill
