At an art opening I had last week at a local gallery, I was requested to supply the wine, so I did a search for an inexpensive wine at our local QFC grocery store. One of the wines I came across was from 'Barefoot' wineries from California, which was highly recommended by the local wine critic.
From the first sip at the opening, I knew this was a really lovely wine. Apparently all the patrons felt the same because 'Barefoot' was consumed instently, before all the other wines that were on the table.
Be sure to try out the wines from 'Barefoot' winery, -you won't be sorry.

...to drink cheap wine.
As a zin lover, I've tasted their wine over the years and never cared much for it.
It's possible they've improved lately, but I think you can probably do much better for the money.
See my inexpensive cab recommendations below from Trader Joes, for example.
We blind tasted the Poets Row agains the Liberte last night and all three tasters preferred the Liberte by a small margin.
Quafting wine. Nothing wrong with that.
You might also like Yellow Tail from Australia.
But spend a couple of more dollars and try Columbia Crest "Grand Estates" or Ch. Ste. Michelle regional wines.
In my experience the qualitative difference between a $8 bottle of wine and a $12 bottle can be significant. Used to be $5 to $8 before inflation. When you get past that range the cost to value decreases proportionally.
This is of course a gross generalization.
