Went to Max's Wine Dive here in Houston. They also have a place in Austin. Good food, a bit decadent, and decent wine selection.
Got a bottle of Benziger '05 Cab/Merlot Reserve for $50. I thought that was a bit high but didn't know for sure. All the wines were a bit high.
Mid-way through the outing the waitress began to give a sales pitch. Seems they retail and if you buy by the case you can get really good pricing on their wines. She shows us that if we buy a case of the wine that we are drinking we can get it for $18.50 a bottle, plus tax.
I won't be going back.

Most restaurants do a 3X markup. I love seeing a 9-10 $ bottle of prosecco going for $30.
I usually do by the glass or stick to beer :)
...it was my birthday and the next my daughter was leaving for her semester abroad in Italy.
Looking at the wine menu, most of the decent reds started at about $60 and went up from there.
Fortunately, I brought a bottle of Chateau St. Jean Cinc Cepages 2003 and only paid a $15 corkage fee.
