My wife received a gift today from a customer of hers: 2 bottles of fine champagne.
Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Brut Champagne 1988 Blanc de Blancs
and
Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Rare Vintage Rose 1985
I know these are fine wines but can anyone comment on how fine, when I should drink them, etc? For reference I have had some very fine champagnes including Krug Grand Cuvee, Bollinger Grand Annee 1985 and 1982. How do these compare?
Thanks

Much better vintage. That one you can sit on for a while if you want.
The Taittinger may be past it. Wasn't a great vintage for them. Drink it now.
The VC should be much better. I still wouldn't wait too long to drink it.
Just my opinion.
Thanks.
I made a typo...the Taittinger is a 1998 vintage, not 1988. Does that change it at all?
