For the last year or so I've been turning to these Spanish whites. I think they're gaining in popularity but they are still a good value.
Light gold in color, with interesting flavors not tasted in the popular chards and pinot grigios.
If you enjoy Voignier or Gewurztraminer you will probably enjoy this.
I'm currently drinking the 2006 Laxas that I got at Costco, $14.
Follow Ups:
albarino is a v. nice white. One of my favorites. Drink it with shellfish, or whenever you need a dry, crisp white. The ones I look for for reliably good wine are from Rias Baixas, which is up between Portugal and France in NW Spain.
