>BTW, just got some bad news on a wine purchase. I ordered some Siduri Sonoma pinot noir (my 18 bottles allotment) which has always been a great cost/quality value. WS gave it 80. Ouch.>Regardless, it's just one person's opinion.
A few years back, I had just recieved my half case allocation of Dowling Family Vinyard's Fly By Night zinfandel, maybe the 2003.
The Wine Specatator arrived with a big zinfandel issue and probably rated over 100 different ones.
At the bottom, with 63 points, was the Fly By Night. I think the wine scoring right above it was in the high 70s. I'd never seen a wine with a score that low.
I tasted it and it was terrific - one of my favorites zinfandels of that vintage.
I wrote WS a letter and gave them a hard time about it and said they must have tasted a bad bottle. They said they tasted more than one so they had to be right.
Let me know what you think of the Siduri.

Supposedly 2008 was a problem year for some of the vineyards in Sonoma because of smoke damage. Siduri actually declassified some of their single vineyards designations to blend into this. I've always been pleased with their winemaking abilities in the past.
Have my fingers crossed because I'm going to have a lot of it.
The 2007 was excellent.
