I'm having the Molly Dooker "The Boxer". Just picked it up from Costco.
Intense wine! The first sniff and sip were almost an overload. Could almost be an aperitif, in that a small amount is enough. After the second glass everything started to blend together, probably because of the high alcohol content.
Follow Ups:
Well, on Friday I was drinking a bottle of Sean Thackrey Pleiades XVII. An interesting blend that I liked better than a previous vintage, but probably will not buy again.
Recently I had a really nice California Rhone style that I like. The 2007 Tablas Creek "Cotes de Tablas" is more to my personal taste and perhaps closer to a French Rhone that some of the other California efforts of that type I've tried.
I need to try some of their wines. I've had quite a few of Perrin's french wines over the years.
Which do you recommend?
BTW, I'm getting my first sampling of Tobin James' wines tomorrow. I called a couple of months ago to order a couple of their zins and they talked me into joining their club. You get 8 bottles for $140 and they include a couple of their reserves. Sounded like a good deal to me.
Tablas Creek makes quite a few varieties according to their website. I'm only familiar with the Cotes de Tablas, both the 2006 and 2007, of which I prefer the latter. There is a Robert Parker survey and rating (FWIW) of a number of their wines on their web site. Perhaps a good introduction to Tablas Creek's current offerings. See the link below.

I'd have to say it is not a food wine. I don't even think a steak could stand up to it. For good or bad.
...we started with a bottle of Gloria Ferrar Brut - hey it was Friday night!
Next, my wife moved to chardonnay.
I opened a 2005 Girard zin decent, but nothing to rave about.
She made pasta with tomatoes and shrimp.
Had a salad with it and fresh bread.
this evening we'll have friends from Philly (like my wife) over to watch the World Series. I'll open a Turley.
