It's another weekend what's everyone sampling.I'm currently enjoying a Spanish Castillo de Almansa Reserva 2003.
Follow Ups:
...and last night I opened a bottle of 2005 Altos Del Duratón. A 70% Tempranillo, 25% Syrah and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon blend from Spain. It is said that J.C. Berouet, winemaker at Chateau Petrus is a consultant on this one. For whatever it's worth, a 90 pt. rating from WA. Nice wine I could see buying a case of as an everyday choice. Price varies widely from under $10.00 to around $15.00. Give it a try.
Well another weekend, another dinner party.Enjoyed 2 exceptionally good Spanish selections.Bodegas Castano 2003 Solanera and a Finca Luzon 2004.
Supple and elegant.
...a couple who visited Spain last summer brought home a couple of older riojas and made paella.
Also had some riojas and priorats purchased locally for under $20.
One of the guests brought a couple of riojas from 1997 and '98.
Nice food and wine.
The Axiom priorat (yellow label) for $12 at Whole Foods is a recommendation.
I've tried Four Vines "Dusi Ranch" and "Maverick" zinfandels. I joined their club and just got them in a few days ago.
I'm probably going to order some of the "Dusi Ranch". Reminds me of Turley in style, but cheaper.
...and they rated 3 of Four Vines zins.Biker and The Sophisticate got 92 pts.
Maverick got 86.

And what would be the cost of the biker Zin.Owning a Harley, I just have to have it.
