...my preferences?
I tend to like reds.
Last night the French Nuevo Beaujolais was relesed. This light fruity wine for around $10 a bottle goes pretty well.
So do the regular Beaujolais.
Pinot Noir also works.
And finally, a fruity zinfandel can do it, too.
Follow Ups:
Beaujolais Nouveau just doesn't cut it,if you're going down that path at least opt for a "cru" Beaujolais,Brouilly will work.Meridian,is a well balanced Pinot Noir at an attractive price point will also be a good match.
Happy Thanksgiving.
...I recall their Chardonnay used to be good for the money, but haven't tried it in a while.
Funny you opt for a cru beaujolais, but an inexpensive pinot.
My experience with pinot is the good ones usually aren't cheap.
Agree, the Meridian Chardonnay for the money is a best buy.Believe it or not Decembers issue of Consumer Reviews had a taste test on Pinot Noirs and the Meridian bested 2 others that were in the $20 something range.
Yes,I have found for the most part that you have to go into the $$ range to find a top tier Pinot, the Meridian is an exception to the rule.
...but my motto has become, "life is too short to drink cheap wine".
Ever try Siduri pinot - one of my favorites.
I'll be trying a bottle of Seghesio Zinfandel Sonoma County 2007 this year. It seems to be temporarily in short supply as it was rated #10 on the Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2008 list.
Another nice one to try is the Seth Kunin Pape Star 2005 which is a Central Coast Rhone style blend. I found it at my local Whole Foods.
The Prisoner, a Zinfandel blend, is another nice choice. I've tried both the 2005 and 2006 but not the current 2007 release. Along the same line is The Phantom from Bogle. Similar style, but priced about $20.00 per bottle.
A nice inexpensive everyday drinking red that I like is the Domaine Famille Ligneres La Baronne Rouge 2003 which is a Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre blend.

The latest issue of Wine Spectator I received Saturday gave it 93 points which is pretty good considering they won't rate a zin over 95. I'm going to look for it tomorrow - fortunately they make a lot of it.

Don't know that one, but I'm afraid a Rhone-style might be a little too big and not fruity enough for turkey dinner.

I've had a little of this at a restaraunt in Napa last year and really liked it but haven't seen it in any local stores.

Sounds good. A similar one I like is Ferrari-Carano's Sienna (Sangiovese and Malbec) around $20 (list $30) at Costco when it's in stock.
Considering the similarities between audiophiles and oenophiles you'd think there would be more interest.
I found the Seghesio Zinfandel at a Pavillions store in Santa Monica at about $18.00. The local Vons and Ralphs don't seem to carry it. Some of the on-line retailers seem to be out of it, but you're right, they did make a lot of it. I'll see if it stands up to the hype/rating.
The Pape Star is nice with probably enough fruit to carry it off. Not sure about the vintage but it might have been the 2006 I had. There's a listing/description of the 2006 on the K&L Wines web site at the link below.
