yes, we read. But, we are reading books and not posts on the Audio Asylum. I think it is interesting that of all the forums on the Asylum there are only two or three that deal with music, while at the same time there are many forums where the inmates prattle on and on about ASIO, 45, Karlson boxes, etc.

I'm sure that this book has been discussed quite a bit already on this forum, but I just had to mention it.

The only book in recent memory that even comes close to serving up this type of emotional wallop is Fortress of Solitude by Jonathan Lethem.

There's palpable fear in this story... and hope. There's nothing cheap about it. You earn your way through this book by having the courage to turn the page.

  I read The Road a few months ago; quite the experience and it stays with you. I can't wait to see the movie version with Viggo Mortensen-it was supposed to be out by now but has been pushed back a few months. I also read Blood Meridian by McCarthy and that book was just relentless, like bludgeoning yourself with a hammer.
  
  Another very good post-apocalypse book is A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter Miller.
