As far as I know, the Mark Squires board is non-denominational, and open to wine loving brethren of all races, sexes, sexuality, ages, etc. I suppose though that it is advisable to be a man if you want to be know as 'Brother' like the rest of the posters. We have the same non-discriminatory, non-denominational policy here at the Asylum, I think.

I guess every board has its idiosynchracies. The Squire board has 'brothers,' the West Coast Board has 'mailing lists,' the Garr board has 'Thors,' Strat's Place has Geo T's Floral arrangements, and we have our Jeebus. You know Chris, a lot of people intensely dislike the term Jeebus and find it every bit as stupid as find Brother Squires calling Brother Kravitz Brother Kravitz on the Squire Board. I think this is the only board where members are cyber-murdered in their sleep, witness the recent demise of the popular Kay Bixler, and many internet wine lovers find the Bixler tale to be over the top, irresonsible and absurd. In fact, there is a new phrase being bandied about on the CompuServe wine board: "Bixleresque."

So, what to make of it all? The important thing is to stay close to the original mission statement:

"The Wine Asylum. The best place on the internet to discuss wine and other stuff."
