a good opportunity to see how the service is at your local Nikon dealer (assuming the model you have is current). How did you end up with the camera and no remote, anyway?
I had a somewhat similar dilemma once. I have a B&K pre that came with a nice learning remote. As I started down the path of customizing the remote to my needs and tastes, I realized that I had no way to remap any of the functions built in to the remote. The solution? Through a vendor mistake and some generousity on their part, I ended up with two of these remotes, and that enabled me to 'remap' the built in functions.
Best of luck,
PetePS - have you attempted to shoot random IR commands at your camera to see if you get lucky and stumble across the right signals? Yes, a bit of a long shot, but you never know....

Here's one from the D2H
I used to see these guys close down the Flightline every day to practice for about an hour. It got old after you've been startled by thier sneak silent approach. I once almost jumped out the back of a five ton Dump Truck when i got sprayed by the white smke from the engine.
Looks like a pretty quality camera. Makes me miss the Blue Eagles. Here's one I took on campus yesterday:

The Nikon D70 doesn't come with the remote. You have to purchase it separately. You know, I think I might try your random remote idea. Who knows... one may work!

Chris
