Hello Everybody !

My CPU configuration is as mentioned below :

AMD Athlon 3400+
512 MB DDR [PC 2700] RAM
GeForce FX5200XT [128 MB, AGP 8X]
160GB HDD
DVD WRITER..... BLAH BLAH BLAH

Recently I upgraded from an old 15 inch CRT monitor to 19 inch LCD
Monitor[Sony SDMHS95PB] and I am really enjoying it . It has turned out
to be my one of the most satisfying upgrades until now !

Now enough of the background story and now I will come to the main
point.

My monitor has analog[vga] as well as digital [DVI] input facility but
my present graphic card do not have DVI output.Right now my monitor is
connected through VGA output of my present display card.

I use my PC mainly for browsing,MS OFFICE and multimedia.

WILL I SEE A NOTICABLE DIFFERENCE IN THE PICTURE IF I SHIFT FROM MY
PRESENT GRAPHICS CARD TO ANOTHER GRAPHICS CARD WITH DVI CAPABILITY ?

IF YES WHICH CARD SHOULD I GO KEEPING IN MIND THAT IT SHOULD COST
BETWEEN 100-200 BUCKS

Thanks everybody in advance !

Since you didn't list gaming as a priority your needs are not extreme. The FX5200 is showing its age a bit. With browsing, Office and gneral multimedia you might look at either the Matrox Millennium P650 or Millennium P750. Matrox is the defacto standard for 2D display (browsing and general office use). Matrox IS NOT a gaming card.

Hi ravi,
If you want a great all-around graphics card: multimedia, gaming, DVD movies, etc..... Then I suggest an ATI Radeon 9600XT video card. Its a great card. I have one!!!! The card offers dual monitor viewing and has S-Video output.

Refurbished price: $96.00
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102331R

New In Box price: $141.99
http://www.onsale.com/onsale/shop/detail.asp?dpno=298893&store=onsale&source=BWBCNET&srccode=cii_5766179&cpncode=11-626554-2&adcampaign=email,BWBCNET&wt.mc_id=BWBCNET

This card is also licensed out for production by other companies like SAPPHIRE, Gigabyte, PowerCooler and a few others. Go to www.froogle.com, do a search for ATI Radeon 9600xt and you can find prices in the sub $90 range.
Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Ringthane

Note: The 9600XT is a AGP card NOT an PCI-Express card.

That's the same card I have in my machine (actually its the ATI ALL-IN-WONDER 9600XT). When he didn't list any interest in gaming I steered him toward Matrox but the 9600 is an excellent card also.
