Nothing less than the heartbreaking destruction of the American West.
God, I wish I could have seen the side canyons of the Colorado River
before the construction of the Glen Canyon dam. What a loss. Regards,

J.R.

I've read several of Abbey's works, and Desert Solitaire is by far
the best of the lot. I also visited S. Utah, and particularly the
area around Moab many times, and I just love that country. Too bad
it's so full of Mormons.

Abbey was fond on what he called Jack Mormons, that is, Mormons who
cared not for the formal church but sure liked polygamy. Regards,

For someone on the Bored and responsible for making the decisions as to how this place is run, that was a rather callous statement that you made. I've been chastised / banned from posting Outside for comments similar in nature ( but different in content ) to what you did here. To see someone on the Bored create a post like this and then have them ban me / refuse to talk to me about a similar situation is nothing short of a double standard and full-tilt hypocrisy. If you doubt this, try substituting any of the following words into that sentence and you'll understand where i'm coming from: Niggers, Spics, Jews, Christians, Dot-heads, Athiests, Chinks, Limey's, Mick's, Agnostics, Frog's, Rag-heads, Adventists, Muslim's, etc... You get the point. If someone else would have posted something negative about your religion or race, they would have had a foot up their ass so fast that they would be sore for weeks. Sean

I have no idea why you were banned from outside (how did you manage
that???) and I dont care. AFAIAC, it's perfectly acceptable to
express your dislike for something or someone. Racial slurs
generally are not tolerated, but religious slurs usually are -
calling someone a diaperhead or a mackrel snapper is quite
acceptable AFAIAC.

Stop acting like you have been put upon, clean up your act, and
join the conversation. Nobody likes whiners.

And I assure you, I get no special treatment because I am a moderator.
In fact, I'm held to a somewhat higher standard. And yes, I've had
some of my posts deleted on outside because I lost my cool and
launched a personal attack on someone who launched one on me first.

You can disagree all you want. While i am FAR from being "PC", your standards are obviously somewhat different from the other moderators and most of the "inmates" around here. Why don't you post something about all the Catholics, Jews, Muslims, etc ???

As far as "getting banned from Outside" goes, i did just what you did here. The difference is that i quoted Biblical scriptures and provided historical references for the comments that i made. You simply spouted off what most would consider "intolerance", "hatred" and "bigotry". On top of that, you did so without any justification, merit or reason to even broach the subject. While you can do this because you are a moderator, i get banned for it even though i was on topic and cited references to support the statements that i made. As such, if i am going to be held to one standard, the moderators should be held to the same ( or HIGHER ) standard. The fact that i provided irrefutable references for the stance that i took, and not one person was able to refute them, and i get banned shows that the moderators here are neither fare nor even handed. Then you display your ignorance and bigotry for all to see, do so in a manner that is completely uncalled for and off topic and your post remains. Then you call me out for pointing this out and i'm the one that is the "bad guy" aka "whiner". Obviously, there's something wrong with this picture and your either too dumb or blind to realize what's going on here and what you did wrong. At least, that is "AFAIAC". Sean

Still a beautiful area of the country, even in its fettered state.
