...with one of our group just returning from Spain, three others going in September and October, we decided to taste Spanish Riojas.

6 of us tasted 6 wines and rated our favorite 1pt and least favorite 6pts - low points wins.

These wines changed over the course of the tasting more than any others, most likely because of their age. The ones that impressed me the most on first taste got worse and the mediocre ones got a lot better.

6. 2011 Ramirez de la Piscina Reserva $16 - 28pts - 3 lasts

4/5. 2013 La Buena Vid de Mas Que Vinos $22 - 23pts - 1 first, 1 last

4/5. 2010 Campo Viejo Gran Reserva $29 - 23pts - 2 firsts, 2 lasts (my first)

3. 2009 Heraderos Del Marques de Riscal Reserva - $20 - 19pts

2. 2013 Sierra Cantabria $39 (most expensive from Total Wines) - 17pts - 1 first (my second)

1. 2013 Vina Alarde $13 (from Total Wines) - 16pts - 2 firsts
