Just went to a wine tasting of medium priced Bordeaux. I noticed one, Little B, was very much like a ripe, toasty Australian style. The vineyard Rep's were actually there so I questioned them about the style.

His reply is that this is the way Bordeaux is going. He stated that the vast majority of wine is consumed within a week of purchase and that New World wine making let's even bad years be at least good.

He said that the classifieds will continue to make low alcohol, high tannic, and more acidic wines made for laying down. But the rest will follow the lead of Australia and the U.S..

You got to make what sells, but this really saddens me.
