you're right -- some wines don't suffer from a night of oxidation. especially young concentrated and tannic ones.

i opened a stonking bottle of Mills Reef Syrah 2000 by mistake last week. after decanting, it was still impenetrable. I rebottled half the bottle, vacuum sealed it and stuck it in a cool cupboard. on the second day the tannins had receded a bit and i could taste the fruit. on the third day a bouquet began to reveal itself. on the fourth day it was superb drinking.
