My limited understanding has always been that each individual wine is individually controlled as to, Ltrs/Hctr, Alcohol etc.
This will be uniquely affected by seasons, rainfall, sunhours, average temp etc.
Sometimes under very controlled conditions and "circumstances", the individual "must" of a wine may have "sugar" added. This will be controlled by the authorities on a one by one basis. To achieve firmentation.
Therefore only a "generic" law exists and the French wine laws are governed by parliament.
Guess that you new this already, huh?
