Well, I woke up this morning to my new TT. I waitted almost five months for it but think it was worth it. At least visually. I got a all black Gyro Dec. The weights on the bottom of the platter are the only color, Gold. I'll post a photo as soon as I can pull myself away from the music. As soon as Eric set it up I threw on Dead Can Dance.....Yea Baby...The Glider works. I think It is going to be a great combo! Thriller sounded great. I was looking to see if the McCormack was going to distort. Sounded clean. It was set up with 47k resistors. Seemed to work. Next was "So", Peter's masterpiece. Sounded open and inviting. I can't wait till the cart is broken in. Ended my first session with "Avalon"....Playing the Brits on a Brit table, how appropriate!
I guess I'll start the next session with Kate. I'll keep ya posted...
Congratulations. Do keep in mind that the
bearing needs some time to bed in. Let it spin
for a few days non-stop.Won't harm a thing. The record so far is
about 20 years non-stop. And that was only
a Hydraulic with a lesser bearing.
the next 20 Years or so. Have fun. Buy loads of Vinyl....Ciao Thorsten
You should do a formal review after living with your new toy for a while. I think the Gyros are great - it would take a hell of a tabel to replace mine - we'll see if the VPI TNT II is up to the job shortly. :-)
Actually I would expect the TNT to better the GyroDec,
(although I would be very pleased if it were not :-)
After all, the TNT sits one full tier higher in the
big hierarchy of (turntable) things.
Unless, perhaps, you have a QC on the Gyro.I just found a turntable that trounces my own
GyroDec/QC: my own GyroDec/QC ... but now with
Orbe platter and clamp. I.e. a Gorbe. Now thinking of having one of my arms modified
by Origin Live.
Ive heard about that Origin Live mod. What arm would you do it to? My Gyro came with the Rega 300....
