I am looking to purchase a new cartridge for my Sota Star Sapphire (ET2 arm). Upon visiting my local dealers, I received recommendations for either a Benz Glider ($650) and an entry level Lyra ($650). The problem is that these are from 2 different dealers and auditioning them is not really an option. Could you guys describe some of the characteristics of each? I presently use a Grado ZTE+1 and am looking for more detail and slightly more forward presentation. Associated system is ARC SP-9 MKII, ARC Classic 60, M-L Aerius. Thanks for your help!

If that's what you're looking for, then the Lyra is your best choice. It's more vivid and upfront founding compared to the Glider, with a *much* better sense of clarity, transparency, speed, soundstaging, detail retrieval,...

Thanks Fear3000!Actually, the dealer claims that the Lyra has less than an hour of playing time on it. He was in the process of setting it up, but got too busy to finish. Should I be worried about this or not? He seems to be on the up and up. Also, what kind of tonal balance could I expect from the Lyra? Thanks!
> He was in the process of setting it up, but got too busy to finish. Should I be worried about this or not?I wouldn't be concerned. If he's a reputable dealer, the odds are that the cart was well taken care of, and you'll also get a warranty with your purchase.

I hate to use the word 'neutral', but that's what comes to mind. It's not warm like some of the better Benzs, nor is it lean like the Clavis. It definately sounds 'sunnier' than your Grado [and the Glider], and most importantly, it resolves a lot more information. If I had to compare it to a speaker, it would be more like Dunlavy than VSW.
