After being accosted over on the music forum by Severius, I'll add a couple of recent tastings of note.
Wines good for everyday (won't break the bank). Both about $7 and should be widely available.
Penfolds Rawson's Retreat Cabernet/Shiraz blend. Fruit forward and smooth (low tannins). Medium bodied. A bit of malo/butter going on.
Rosemount Traminer/Riesling. Nice wine for the Cook's glass. Medium dry to lightly sweet. But don't think dessert type. A touch of the exotic friut of Gewurt but lightness of the Riesling.
