if you have left over wine, refrigerating it will help it last a couple more days, max. however, you can also pour it back into a bottle, or maybe a half-bottle you keep around for this occassion, and recork, leave some air space in the bottle for expansion, and freeze it, believe it or not. i've heard very knowledgable wine people recommend this. it'll keep for a while that way.

another thought: if you don't think you'll drink the whole bottle, decant only part of it so you don't expose all of it to air. i use a vacuum stopper for left over wine and it's fine the next day. maybe a couple days in the fridge; even red will oxidize more slowly if chilled.
