Yeah, I certainly wouldn't want to fry my better camera. Currently I'm using, testing out a pair of NiZn in a very inexpensive point and shoot camera that I have. I've been pointing the camera at the wall and taking non stop consecutive pictures with the flash on. So far no problems, very good performance. Like I said, the battery actually settles down to 1.6 volts during use. They last longer than the RayOVac hybrid and Energizer rechargeables I have.
Plenty of other non intelligent devices that could benefit from the slightly higher voltage. Gives a really steady light with flashlights and a bit of extra torque with my cordless screwdriver, better than NiMh rechargeables.
