Leaving computer on all of the time

Posted by klgraha on July 14, 2004 at 16:26:48:

I have high speed internet service from Cox. I am now connected to the internet at all times. Someone told me that this leaves me more vulnerable to virus and the like. Is this true? And if it is, should I power down my pc down after each use? My pc has hibernate and standby mode--should I use this? Or--should I just buy some good virus protection software? I really do not like the idea of turning my pc off and on all the time. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
